Colony cage hen rescue

Friday we had the rescue from the colony battery farm. They only allowed us this time 74 hens. But that’s 74 girls we saved from killing this time. These girls are very pale, very naked, but all fighters. They just want to live.

After the last few days they are showing me just why I do this. They are alert, happy, scratching around and loving life.

The photos are from the farm itself, the people in it are my volunteers that were handed the hens this way so please understand we had to do what we had to do to get these girls out. They are now safe, well and recovering.

This becomes a very big undertaking each time from this particular factory, and I get rather emotional every-time I go here. I just hope to save more next time.
